class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are the most basic ways of adding friends \u2014 such as adding via username (if you know the username) or adding friends via your address book (contacts).<\/p>\n<p>Since Snapchat chose not to sell their platform to Facebook, there is no integration between the two. (That would probably have exploded the user base on Snapchat.)<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Let_me_give_you_a_few_other_ideas\"><\/span>Let me give you a few other ideas<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Instagram<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many Danes who use Snapchat also have a profile on Instagram and Facebook. Since you most likely already have some contacts on these platforms, why not use them to grow your Snapchat?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Example from my own Instagram<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Enter your Snapchat name as your full name<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2879 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/staging1787817111.mickyweis.comwp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/instagramprofil-579x1030-1.jpg\" alt=\"instagramprofil\" width=\"326\" height=\"580\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Share_on_Facebook\"><\/span><strong>S<\/strong><strong>hare on Facebook<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Facebook is still the platform Danes use the most.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, we also have an average of 150\u2013250 friends per person \u2014 and chances are, a large part of these users are also on Snapchat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Example from Peter Bendtsen&#8217;s Facebook page<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>As you can see, Peter created a Snapchat profile picture.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2880 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/staging1787817111.mickyweis.comwp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Skaermbillede-2016-06-01-kl.-17.46.17-1030x831-1.png\" alt=\"Sk\u00e6rmbillede 2016-06-01 kl. 17.46.17\" width=\"532\" height=\"429\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"notebox\">\n<p><strong>Tip<\/strong>: Facebook has also opened up for the use of a video as a profile picture \u2014 this can be uploaded via the mobile app.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Integrate_on_your_blog\"><\/span><strong>Integrate on your blog<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Snapchat has created a handy little link function that allows you to link directly to your Snapchat from your website using a simple link.<\/p>\n<p>The link should look like this: https:\/\/www.snapchat.com\/add\/username<br \/>\nSo my link would look like this: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapchat.com\/add\/mickyweis\">https:\/\/www.snapchat.com\/add\/mickyweis<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"notebox\"><\/div>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Collaborate_with_others_in_your_industry\"><\/span><strong>Collaborate with others in your industry<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Far too few in Denmark use this method \u2014 in Sweden, the big bloggers are great at leveraging each other&#8217;s networks.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know if we Danes are afraid of giving too much away for free, but let\u2019s say you know others with many Snapchat followers \u2014 why not give each other some great promotion?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Party share!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One thing I\u2019ve noticed lately is that people use Snapchat more at parties than they use other platforms \u2014 which makes it a great way to grow your friends list. It\u2019s super fast to add each other.<\/p>\n<p>Also, your mom can\u2019t see on Facebook that you added 17 girls over the weekend \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>It works like this: open Snapchat, tap on your little Snap icon at the top.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Then tap &#8220;Add friends&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2891\" src=\"http:\/\/staging1787817111.mickyweis.comwp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/13334580_1048704188558338_834755399_o-579x1030-1.jpg\" alt=\"13334580_1048704188558338_834755399_o\" width=\"390\" height=\"693\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And then select <strong>&#8220;Find nearby Snapchatter&#8221;<\/strong> \u2014 if you\u2019re 10\u201320 people at a party, you\u2019ll all have added each other quickly!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2892\" src=\"http:\/\/staging1787817111.mickyweis.comwp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/13324061_1048704195225004_2072852068_o-579x1030-1.jpg\" alt=\"13324061_1048704195225004_2072852068_o\" width=\"279\" height=\"496\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2893\" src=\"http:\/\/staging1787817111.mickyweis.comwp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/13324418_1048704198558337_655165465_o-579x1030-1.jpg\" alt=\"13324418_1048704198558337_655165465_o\" width=\"279\" height=\"496\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If there are others nearby, they will show up on this screen and you\u2019ll be able to add each other. Pretty clever, right?<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Personality\"><\/span><strong>Personality<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>One of the reasons Snapchat has become so popular is that it\u2019s less staged than many other social platforms.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t have the option to run your posts through Photoshop \u2014 which many people use on Instagram (naughty).<\/p>\n<p>(Yes, there are filters on Snapchat, but if you think your best friends actually grew dog ears, you don\u2019t deserve to have a phone :))<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Youre_completely_normal\"><\/span>You&#8217;re completely normal!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>We all have opinions about other people&#8217;s lives \u2014 whether we want to or not.<\/p>\n<p>As we grow older, it often matters less, but for Snapchat&#8217;s core demographic \u2014 14\u201320-year-olds \u2014 it means everything how others perceive us.<\/p>\n<p>So, it becomes a kind of reverse validation to see others \u2014 even A-listers like Justin Bieber, Christopher, Medina and many more \u2014 being totally \u201cnormal.\u201d We want to see them being goofy, going without makeup, or whatever it might be.<\/p>\n<p>It also opens the door to share personal moments from your life \u2014 musicians can share their own \u201cspecial moments\u201d with a hardcore group of fans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In other words: show who you are \u2014 and you\u2019ll get credit for it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Involve_your_audience\"><\/span><strong>Involve your audience<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019ve worked with social media for 17 years \u2014 and started when Facebook was pretty much the only usable platform.<\/p>\n<p>As more and more users join, it also takes more to stand out.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been fortunate to have Christian Stadil in my close network \u2014 and he said something to me recently at a talk we held for Firtal:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cTell me and I will forget. Show me and I will remember. Involve me and I will understand.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This saying really stuck with me.<\/p>\n<p>When we run internship programs or I want to pass something on to the sales team at Firtal, it\u2019s crucial for me to involve everyone.<\/p>\n<p>If people don\u2019t grasp your message, you\u2019ll end up spending more time explaining or repeating it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The same goes for Snapchat<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Involve your users!<\/p>\n<p>There are countless ways to do this on Snapchat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Examples of Snapchat engagement<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Questions<\/strong>: Let your users ask you questions that you respond to \u2014 it doesn\u2019t take long to reply, and who wouldn\u2019t want to ask someone they admire? Whether it&#8217;s a company or a personality, this can be very effective.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Contests<\/strong>: Use Snapchat for contests \u2014 tell people to snap their coolest stories to you, and choose a winner within the hour. Contests are fun, cost little, and can go very viral.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ask for help<\/strong>: The BEST thing for humans is to help each other \u2014 that\u2019s also why I\u2019m writing this post. Don\u2019t be afraid to ask your customers for help \u2014 imagine if they came up with a new feature for your product or website. That feeling as a customer or potential customer would be invaluable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Storytelling<\/strong>: One of the most powerful things you can do is storytelling. Make people feel like they\u2019re part of a story.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A toy store in the US called Sphero needed to promote toys tied to the new Star Wars movie \u2014 they found 10 of the biggest influencers in the Star Wars universe who got to feature the little figure. People went crazy on social media \u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/how-snapchat-stars-helped-sell-a-new-star-wars-toy-1444384800\">they reached up to 10 million views per day.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/g0edK5jRBwk\" width=\"620\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Partner_up_with_businesses\"><\/span><strong>Partner up with businesses<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you run your own brand via Snapchat and want more followers \u2014 or just want to come across as more professional \u2014 you can benefit from teaming up with businesses.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Snapchat_takeover\"><\/span>Snapchat takeover!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>There are some really great examples of celebrities taking over businesses\u2019 Snapchat accounts. Depending on your own follower count, this may limit which businesses you can work with.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But \u2014 there are tons of companies!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re into home decor \u2014 what about contacting a furniture company? The point is to show your passion and build your brand at the same time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Victoria\u2019s Secret lets their top models take over<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is what it looks like when it happens<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2885\" src=\"http:\/\/staging1787817111.mickyweis.comwp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/victoriasectrettakeover.png\" alt=\"victoriasectrettakeover\" width=\"420\" height=\"747\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobilemarketer.com\/cms\/news\/social-networks\/22031.html\">Read more about the case here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are loads of great examples out there.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My advice<\/strong>: follow the coolest brands on Snapchat and see what they do.<\/p>\n<p>You might not be able to get Leonardo DiCaprio to take over your company\u2019s Snapchat \u2014 but smaller names can work just as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And as with everything online<\/strong>: the most important thing is to gather as much data and insight as possible \u2014 that way, you\u2019ll know what to improve next time.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Discount_for_business\"><\/span><strong>Discount for business<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Another trending feature on Snapchat right now is bloggers and influencers getting a discount code they can share with their followers \u2014 it could be 10% off at Nike.com (imagine Cristiano Ronaldo doing this \u2014 think of how much Nike would sell).<\/p>\n<p>If you set up tracking on that discount code, you\u2019ll also be able to see how many times it\u2019s used. It doesn\u2019t take many sales before it\u2019s worth it \u2014 and it can go viral.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Remember<\/strong>: Always go after bloggers and influencers whose brand fits your product. It doesn\u2019t have to be the most-followed girl with a perfect look \u2014 if you sell furniture, it might be someone with a strong passion for home interiors.
